Height questions often start with a quick practical need: understand a family-height estimate, check a measurement, or convert centimeters into feet and inches. HeightLab puts those tasks in one calm interface with the formula and assumptions visible beside the result.
The site is intentionally focused. The homepage is a working height calculator first, followed by plain-language explanations of the mid-parental method, approximate ranges, unit conversion, and the reasons a single estimate cannot predict a person's exact adult height.
What the homepage does
The adult-height mode accepts two parent heights in centimeters or feet and inches. It applies the traditional mid-parental method with an optional boy or girl adjustment, then shows the midpoint, estimated result, approximate range, and calculation summary. The converter mode changes a value between centimeters, meters, feet, and inches.
The calculator is designed for general education and quick reference. It does not measure a person, diagnose a growth condition, or guarantee final adult height. A healthcare professional should interpret a child's growth pattern, especially when measurements change unexpectedly or there are other concerns.
Clear calculations and careful limits
HeightLab shows the numbers used in the estimate instead of presenting an unexplained prediction. The range is a reminder that genetic variation, health, nutrition, puberty timing, measurement technique, and other factors can affect growth.
The current homepage does not present a percentile score as a medical conclusion. Any future growth-chart feature should identify its reference population and explain that a percentile is one data point rather than a diagnosis.
Privacy-minded by design
The calculator performs its arithmetic in the browser and does not need an account or an upload queue. Parent heights, the selected option, and converter values are not intentionally sent to a calculation API or placed in the page URL as part of the normal workflow.
This is a practical privacy boundary, not a promise that every device or browser behaves identically. The separate Privacy Policy explains hosting logs, optional advertising or analytics technologies, support messages, and the choices available to visitors.
Who can use it
The tool is intended for parents, students, educators, adults checking units, and anyone who wants a transparent family-height estimate. It works on modern desktop and mobile browsers with JavaScript enabled.
Use measured heights when possible, ideally without shoes, and keep the same unit system for both parent inputs. For a child's health question, use the calculator as background information and speak with a qualified clinician.
